Since Texas Holdem poker is a card game where you beat opponents with a good hand you must first know what these good hands are. Some players simply go into the table without knowing these simple basics and it costs them a lot. Texas Holdem poker ranking of hands is quite simple, and from top-to-low this is how the ranking of hands go:

  • Royal Flush-A combination of a Flush and a Straight. A Royal Flush is made from the cards A-K-Q-J-10. It's the highest in the ranking of hands and the odds for hitting a Royal Flush are about 650,000 to 1.
  • Straight Flush-Again, a combination of a Flush and a Straight, but this time made from any sequence of consecutive cards such as 6-7-8-9-10 of the same suit. The odds for hitying a Straight Flush during a Texas Holdem game are about 65,000 to 1.
  • Four of a Kind-As the name states, it is a hand consisted of four cards with the same value. The odds for a hand of Four of a Kind are about 4,000 to 1.
  • Full House-A hand of a pair and Three of a Kind. The odds for a Full House are about 600 to 1.
  • Flush-A flush hand is made of five cards from the same suit (Clubs, spades, Hearts or Diamonds). The odds for you to get a Flush are reasonable – 300 to 1.
  • Straight– A sequel of cards with a liner numerical order such as Ace-2-3-4-5 or 9-10-J-Q-K. The odds for a Straight are about 130 to 1.
  • Three of a Kind-A hand of three identical cards, with the same value, such as 6-6-6. You can improve Three of a Kind into a Full house. The odds for Three of a Kind are about 35 to 1.
  • Two Pair-Two pairs, such as 5-5 and K-K in the same hand. The odds are for hitting Two Pair are about 10 to 1.
  • One Pair – A pair made from two similar cards such as A-A, the odds for such a hand are 1:1 (even).

    • You might as well encounter some situations where you can't even made any hand and this situation is called "no pair" since a pair is the lowest ranked combination of cards in Texas Holdem poker.
